I did competitive testing with three different types of film festivals, big, local and student. I looked at what made them stand out, how they ran, what they offered like workshops, special screenings, talks with directors and more exposure.
I spoke with Matthew Nash, the head of the film department about what seniors do once they graduate, where their films go post graduation. They are required to submit their final film to at least one festival and every year they get to put one film into the MPC student showcase at the Boston International Film Festival. Students festivals get picked up by Troma Festival from this.
BRANDING
To add the word student I wrote the word student repeatedly with a felt tip pen to try and get the homemade feel to remind people that these films are made by real people. This is the final result that is used in the tagline in the logo.
APPLICATIONS
Postcards are an important deliverable because it spreads the word through mail, people seeing it at the post office then the mailman seeing it, it gets passed to multiple people while being delivered to the place it’s going, more exposure to be sent to colleges and to people who have entered in the past, people in the industry. One of the postcards have a schedule of what movies will be shown at what theaters.
